The Hindu god Shiva in his form as the cosmic dancer, is named Nataraja.
In the Nataraj Mudra , we can see Shiva standing in the middle, with the fire spikes around Him.
Shiva has the Dhamarukam in one hand , symbolizing the rhythm of time and sound.
On the other hand , Shiva holds the fire / flame , which conveys the creation and destruction of this world.
Shiva stands on the demon called Apasmara, meaning the demon of Ignorance. The demon is present in everyone and is the collective formation of I, me and mine , that is egotism. So, Shiva is relieving this demon called Ignorance, and thus dissolving us and everything into Him.
